The town of Liska, known as one of the most sacred places in the world, is filled with special moments where the deep prayers at the gravesite of Rebbe Hershele Lisker zt"l resonate powerfully.
Through this prayer, we plead for healing for those who are unwell, financial support for the poor, and peace and wellness for Israel and all of humankind. Liska has always been a special place in the Jewish world, as it was here that the Liska Rebbe built the famous synagogue, which was among the largest in Europe at the time. The legacy of the town and the tzadik continues to thrive within Jewish communities, drawing many who visit to seek blessings in line with the Kivrei Tzadikim tradition.
Rebbe Hershele Lisker (רבי הערשעלע ליסקער), also known as Zvi Hirsh Friedmann (צבי הירש פרידמאן), or the renowned author of the Ach Pri Tevu'ah (אך פרי תבואה), was among the great hasidic leaders, and his teachings continue to influence his followers to this day. As a student of the illustrious Teitelbaum Moshe zt"l (משה טייטלבוים זצ״ל), known as the Yismach Moshe (ישמח משה), the Rebbe gained deep insights into Torah and Hasidic teachings. The deep connection of disciple and teacher lives on in Hasidic circles, especially within the Satmar community, which holds both Teitelbaum and Rebbe Hershele Lisker in high regard.
Across the globe, Hasidic communities—whether in Borough Park, Williamsburg, or anywhere in Israel—revere the town of Liska and the merit of the Liska Rebbe. The Liska cemetery is an important site within the Kivrei Tzadikim tradition, where the merit of the tzadik imbues prayers with remarkable strength. On the yahrzeit (יארצייט) of the Rebbe's passing, thousands of individuals embark on a pilgrimage to this site to pray and ask for blessings for their families and communities.
The Liska Rebbe’s spiritual legacy, articulated in texts such as Ach Pri Tevu'ah (אך פרי תבואה) and Hayoshor veHatov (הישר והטוב), serves as a guiding light for Jewish communities worldwide. The sacred land of Liska is not only a place of past miracles and blessings but continues to be a site where prayers, filled with deep faith and devotion, are heard and bring blessings to all who come to seek them.
